About Timeshare

A Timeshare provides owners with the opportunity to own a vacation villa interest for a set amount of time each year in a spectacular resort environment. Villas will typically resemble an apartment or condominium, ranging in size from studio units to three or four bedrooms. Units are generally outfitted with all the comforts of home, including full kitchen or kitchenette, separate living and dining areas, washer and dryer, private patio or balcony, and home entertainment centers. Located in popular vacation destinations, these resorts provide world class amenities and services not generally experience in a standard hotel unit.

Although there are many varieties of timeshare ownership, a vacation club like Marriott Vacation Club allows use or access to more than one resort location. Although owners are deeded to a “Home Resort”, they receive the option of a priority exchange into any of the other resorts within the vacation club network.

Timeshare owners also have the option to externally exchange their interval week at one resort for an interval week at another resort. Exchange companies, such as RCI or Interval International, accept timeshare weeks on deposit from its members to establish a pool of weeks, from which other members may select the resort and vacation times of their choice. Exchange value is determined using factors such as the resort’s rating, the season, size of unit, etc.
